What should you do?

The Race Management decides whether the race continues. The team captain receives a text message with information about the current state of the race, either being green, yellow or red. This information is also displayed on the displays at switching points and through different channels. Please pay attention to the instructions of the organisation.

Standard rule: If you don’t hear anything, the race continues!

In addition, there are different color codes used to indicate a situation.

YELLOW: "The race has been temporarily halted due to..."

The situation is too dangerous, the race has been temporarily halted. You do the following:

On the runner's route:

  1. Pay attention to your own safety! You participate at your own risk!

  2. If you consider the situation to be unsafe; take shelter somewhere.

  3. Do you consider the situation safe (again); continue running.

On the car route / a switching point / a restart:

  1. Mind your own safety! You participate at your own risk!

  2. One person should ask for information at the switching point or at the info desk bus.

  3. Follow the instructions of the organization.

If your team is still at the start in Nijmegen:

  1. Follow the instructions of the organization.

GREEN: "The race will be restarted in ... (at ....)"

The situation is safe again, the race will be restarted. You do the following:

  1. Wait for instructions from the organization to which location (change point or restart) your team should go.

  2. Go to that location.

  3. At that location, follow the instructions of the organization.

RED: "The race will be permanently stopped because of..."

It is no longer possible or desirable to finish the race. You do the following:

  1. Gather in Enschede

  2. Finish / party activities: the organization decides if, and in what form, these will continue.

  3. It’s always possible to spend the night in Enschede.

To conclude

  1. Make sure all people in your team are aware of this emergency schedule and that announcements are also made to everyone.
  2. Suspending/ restarting / ending the race creates chaos. It may be that the organization wants to use your van to pick up runners and cyclists. We count on your cooperation!
  3. Make sure you arrive in Enschede with your runners' vest. There you must hand in the vest to get your deposit refunded.
